About Me.

I am originally from Sunnyvale, California, the heart of Silicon Valley (US Citizen). Growing up surrounded by technology and innovation inspired my journey toward becoming a mechanical engineer. My experiences and opportunities at the University of Toronto drive my desire to contribute to pushing the boundaries of what is possible in tech, blending creative ideas with real-world applications. I believe in hard work and am committed to bringing a grounded, dedicated approach to everything I do. To me, engineering is more than just a technical job – it is a lifestyle within a career.

Education

2023-2027 (expected)

University of Toronto

Bachelor of Applied Science - Mechanical Engineering + PEY Co-op*

  • Intended Minor/Specialty Interests: Mechatronics, Solid Mechanics and Design, Business

  • Relevant Coursework: Mechanical Engineering Design, Material Science, Intro to Python, Thermodynamics, Manufacturing Engineering, Management/Org. Behavior

* At UofT, engineering students take 9-12 months off to work after completing their third year and gain real-world experience in the industry, known as the "Professional Experience Year".

My classes at UofT provide a lot of hands-on experience with team projects. To learn more, go to my projects page here!

Values and Strengths

I believe time management, communication, and teamwork are my greatest strengths. I owe much of these learned skills to being an athlete, as managing a heavy training schedule while maintaining academic excellence is no easy feat.

While I value hard work and success, I've also learned when to take a step back and make decisions to restore balance in my life. This skill influences my work today as an engineer – while unexpected challenges occur inevitably, it is important to know what can be done and how it affects the bigger picture within the given time frame.

Communication is one of the most important skills an engineer can have. Without it, teammates don't coordinate, deadlines are missed, and clients or consumers are unsatisfied. Communication connects me with others, manages scheduling conflicts, and reflects team cohesion in projects and experiences I am proud of.

Transferrable Skills

During team projects, my courses allow peer feedback to teammates ranking their performance from 1-5 in commitment, focus, communication, capabilities, and standards. These soft skills are important in teamwork. The feedback I received are from real teams I worked with this past year, and reflect my abilities in teamwork as an engineer.

HartNav - APS111

I was assigned Design Lead for this project in Fall 2023. I was clear to my teammates that I was in season for my sport, so communication and commitment were important qualities I needed to stay on top of attending meetings and contributing to the project.

The collaborative team environment is an experience I value in this project, and I believe future roles involving design are aligned with my skillset and interests.

Sustainable Water Filter - APS112

For this project, I was a Co-Leader specializing in design. This challenged my time management skills and communication. I had to set an example for my team and oversee multiple aspects of the project, from root problem finding to prototyping.

As shown to the right, my teammates were confident in my leadership abilities when I thought I could improve in some areas. While this project was challenging management-wise working with a real client with specific needs, I learned how to maintain professional relationships and manage expectations with both parties.

Varsity Athlete

As a varsity athlete at the University of Toronto, I take pride in professionally representing the school. A heavy training regimen whilst studying engineering requires a lot of time management and communication between coaches and professors to maintain excellence in both.

These two skills are crucial not just in the pool but in engineering too. I am thankful to have such a strong team, a unique experience I will always look back on as a pillar of teamwork and success.
